My interpretation of the rule is that these "grandfathered" created players can stay created until they either make the SIM, of course, or are cut. Whether they have to clear waivers I don't know. But, they are allowed to be traded and keep their status.

So, just to be clear, if any of the ( up to five ) "grandfathered " players this year do NOT get a projection NEXT year ( 2010 ), they will have to be released. Is this correct ? Well, since my last explanation did not suffice, I guess I have to make it firm. No Grandfather Clause Players in 2010!

The White Sox keep only Matthew Sweeney and release: Jonathan Holt Ryan Pope Daniel Worth Jordan Czarniecki The White Sox will also release Delwyn Young ... This puts the White Sox roster at 40 players including one (1) grandfathered clause player.

Recap:
From Toronto: Mar 5, 2009, 4:17pm
What's the ruling if a player is in the db this year, but not next year ? Are they grandfathered, or will they have to be released ? ________________________________
From Seattle: Mar 5, 2009, 4:36pm
Right now I would say they would have to be released, that is provided we continue with Zips projections next year. Since that aspect is unknown, I'll say lets cross that bridge a little later.
In another league that a couple of our members founded which only uses players in the SIM, if those teams have a player that does not show up the next year, they get released. _________________________________
