i bet thats what everybody says when they look at you, huh? Dude, your come-backs are weak, and quite frankly, I don't think many people care what you think. I guess I can understand why you have a napolean complex since you have a french name and all, but at some point you'll have to come to grips with your thingy size and stop trying to take it out on people in sim leagues. In case you didn't realize, this is "fantasy" at it's finest. Trying to act like a punk may be a cry for attention, but in the end, you just wind up hurting the people your closest to. The guys who you'll try to trade with.

actually ,if my name were french it would be spelled jean paul. not john paul. thanks, though.
thanks for the analysis doctor dumbass. i guess im trying to "act like a punk" by arguing the merits of a trade and making fun of your (obviously) lame humor if you threw up in your mouth laughing at that.
i have no need to try to trade with you, or oakland. one, i dislike you quite a bit, and two oakland has nothing worth trading for. so im not too worried about burning a few bridges in a "fantasy" league there bucko.

An observation:
Of the number of GMs who have put in their thoughts regarding this trade, six are OK with the deal, and two think it is too lop-sided. Just thought I'd point that out.
Everyone should be encouraged to post their opinions, but let's not get too carried away over a deal here or there.
As someone who has made at least 15 deals since joining this league a few months ago and totally overhauled my roster, I've learned that there will always be times you feel you give up too much in a deal or (hopefully) you've you've got the better half. And then you'll hear from other GMs that their thoughts are completely opposite.
Again - the best way to evaluate a trade is: Are both owners happy with the deal? 100 times out of 100 the answer is yes. Well, unless you're in Seattle watching Bavasi run the M's.

I guess my overall point is that when I think Team A gets the better of Team B in a deal, my first reaction isn't "Team B is a dumbass", it's "Team A made a good deal".

To conclude this wonderful discussion: I think Reyes is a tremendous talent, but I don't think you necesarilly build around him. I'd have to say that Reyes is one of the 5 most exciting players to watch, but that's not the question. You build around AP, Howard, Big Papi, maybe even Beltran before Reyes. He's got his niche which can be a very valuable asset to a team. Speed like that can put a tremendous amount of pressure on a team. (See Vince Coleman) However, I feel you need some RBI guys more than some SB guys to strike fear into the opposition. But like I said, if I ever would consider building a team around Reyes, it would be until he shows me some consistency, because if you're gonna be the center part of the core of your team, consistency is something you gotta have. I try not to look like a smartass when I don't think a deal is very fair. It would be much better if reactions to trades were a little less abrupt and a little more insightful.

And I just wanted Reyes because I was a Mets fan, and I knew it would piss the guy with 2 first names off.

Heated discussion on trades is good. I think it makes GM's cautious about their trades and decreases the likelihood of really bad deals.
This "discussion" went a little personal, which isn't good, but we started this league encouraging trash talk so I'm ok with it for the moment.
I would hope something like this wouldn't stop GM's from trading with each other. There is no reason this needs to carry on beyond this discussion. Honestly, I think alot of what was said was pretty funny and I hope most took it that way.
Like Kelly said, there wasn't a majority opposition to this deal so there isn't any consideration for this trade to be vetoed at this point. However, in the future, if there is a majority of GM's opposed to a deal (like any deal that makes George better) I don't have a problem at all putting deals to a league wide vote.

Honestly, I think alot of what was said was pretty funny and I hope most took it that way. That's the only thing I was going for. There will be a few GM's that aren't used to JP's bullying though.

Yeah, I'd say Aurillia has the winter mastered, he just destroyed my M's.
In 2 games, he was 6 for 10, 4 runs, 8 RBI, 2 doubles and 2 HR's.
A's beat the M's in both!
